Overview
ChatGPT supports remote MCP servers as connectors. This guide adds Ocean as a custom connector so you can query threats, metrics, phishing reports, and allow/deny lists directly from ChatGPT. For connection details and the full tool catalog, see the MCP Server Overview.Custom connectors require a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Team, Enterprise, or Edu plan. Availability
and the exact settings path vary by plan and are still changing on OpenAI’s side.
Prerequisites
- A ChatGPT plan that supports custom connectors.
- MCP access enabled for your tenant.
- An Ocean account to sign in with.
Add the connector
1
Open connector settings
Go to Settings → Connectors, then select Create (or Advanced settings → Developer
mode on some plans, then Create connector).
2
Fill in the connector details
Give it a name (for example
Ocean) and set the MCP Server URL to
https://api.ocean.security/mcp.3
Authenticate
Choose OAuth and save. ChatGPT redirects you to sign in with your Ocean account and
approve the access it asked for.
4
Enable it in a chat
In a conversation, open the tools/connectors picker and turn on Ocean so the model can
call its tools.
OAuth access to Ocean is read-only. The allow/deny write tools aren’t reachable from
ChatGPT.
Verify the connection
Try a prompt such as “Use Ocean to list this week’s threats” in a chat with the Ocean connector enabled, and confirm ChatGPT calls an Ocean tool and returns data.Troubleshooting
- Connector option isn’t available. Custom connectors aren’t on every plan — confirm your plan supports them, or ask your workspace admin to enable them.
- Sign-in or consent fails. Your Ocean account needs an active tenant and a role that permits MCP access.
- No Ocean tools appear. MCP access may not be enabled for your tenant, or your identity lacks the relevant permissions. See the overview troubleshooting.
